Pulling Off A Surprise Proposal : Denver Engagement Photos

Helping with surprise proposals is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. There is no better feeling than pulling off the most unforgettable surprise! I’ll be sharing my tips for the art of planning and executing the perfect surprise proposal, and some Denver engagement photos to follow!

For this proposal, rumor has it that Abi was keeping track of my travel schedule, hoping that Denver would be on the list, hopeful that Aidan was planning a proposal. So I jumped on a secret flight, drove up to the mountains with Aidan, and waited for Abi to come through — thinking she was taking headshots with some friends, her face said it all when she saw us. We ended our time capturing their engagement photos in lovely Denver.

A million times worth it, capturing this brought me so much joy.

How to Plan An Unforgettable Surprise Proposal

  1. Know Your Partner’s Style: Before diving into the planning process, it’s crucial to understand your partner’s preferences. Consider their personality, interests, and the kind of experiences they enjoy. Whether they prefer an intimate setting or a grand gesture, tailoring the surprise to their taste will make it even more special.
  2. Location, Location, Location: The setting plays a crucial role in the success of a surprise proposal. My top piece of advice is choosing a location that is holds meaning for you both! Whether it’s a scenic outdoor spot, a romantic restaurant, or a place with sentimental value, pick a location that is special. In the pictures below, this spot outside of Denver was meaningful to Abi and Aidan because it is where they went on their first date! It was so much fun taking these Denver engagement photos following their proposal!
  3. Plan a Distraction: To ensure the surprise remains intact, plan a distraction to keep your partner unsuspecting. This could be a fake event or outing that serves as a cover while you set up the actual proposal. Be creative in crafting a believable distraction that won’t raise suspicions.
  4. Personalize the Moment: Inject personal touches into the proposal to make it uniquely yours. This could include incorporating shared memories or playing a special song. The more personal and thoughtful the proposal, the more unforgettable the surprise will be.

Pulling off a surprise proposal requires careful planning, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of your partner’s desires. By incorporating personal touches and choosing the right moment and location, you can create a magical experience that sets the stage for a lifetime of love and happiness. Cheers to crafting a proposal that will be talked about for years to come!

Cheers to Abi & Aidan!
